Davidson adds Greensboro to 2025 football schedule

Greensboro College football will visit Davidson on Sept. 20, 2025. The contest will kick off at 7 p.m.

Davidson College football has turned to the Division III ranks to fill a hole on its schedule created by the recent closure of St. Andrews. The Wildcats now will host Greensboro College on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.

Greensboro plays in the USA South Conference. The Pride finished 1-9 a year ago. Davidson is a non-scholarship FCS school that competes in the Pioneer Football League. The Wildcats posted a 6-5 mark in Scott Abell’s final season as head coach.

The addition of Greensboro keeps Davidson at 12 games for the season – four non-conference and eight PFL contests. The Wildcats also will face Elon, Georgetown and Tennessee Tech among its non-league foes this fall.

Saj Thakkar will make his debut as Davidson head coach when Georgetown visits on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Greensboro had been slated to play at Maryvale, a former USA South partner, on Sept. 20. But that game has been replaced by Davidson, according to the Pride’s Web site.

Davidson has played Greensboro once before on the gridiron, a 32-7 win on Sept. 10, 2005
