Last call for spring football games across NC

Nine schools hosting public scrimmages this weekend

College football fans across North Carolina have one more chance to see live spring games before we move back into off-season mode.

Nine schools will host public spring games this weekend.

Gardner-Webb will kick things off Friday night at 7 p.m. with its annual spring showcase. The Bulldogs compete at the FCS level.

Charlotte, Duke, Wake Forest and North Carolina from the FBS ranks will hold their spring games on Saturday. The Wake (2 p.m.) and Duke (6 p.m.) games will be shown on ACC Network.

Davidson will dedicate its new stadium and play its spring game Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats compete at the FCS level and will christen a state-of-the-art 5,000-seat facility and accompanying 12,000 square-foot field house.

Three Division II schools will hold their spring games to wrap up the weekend, Wingate, Mars Hill and Elizabeth City State.

  • Wingate | 11 a.m.
  • Mars Hill | 12:30 p.m.
  • Elizabeth City State | 1 p.m.
