NORFOLK, Va., – North Carolina Central quarterback Walker Harris was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola.
Morgan State defensive lineman Elijah Williams earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Norfolk State’s Michael Rijo was named Rookie of the Week. NCCU’s Torricelli Simpkins III and Adrian Olivo received Offensive Lineman of the Week and Specialist of the Week accolades, respectively.
Harris (QB, 6-1, 195, Jr., Rolesville, N.C.) passed for 263 yards and five touchdowns, the most by a NCCU quarterback in 18 years, in a 45-3 victory over Mississippi Valley State in the Circle City Classic. Harris completed 17 of 28 passes and rushed for 32 yards, averaging 8.0 yards per carry.
Williams (DL, 6-3, 270, Jr., Jersey City, N.J.) collected 10 tackles, nine solo, with four tackles for a loss and two sacks in a double-overtime loss to UAlbany. He also recorded a forced fumble.
Rijo (LB, 6-1, 225, Fr., Virginia Beach, Va.) recorded four solo tackles, with three for a loss of 18 yards, and two sacks. He also notched two quarterback hurries in the Spartans’ victory over Towson.
Simpkins III (OL, 605, 320, Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) amassed an astounding 12 pancake blocks with a team-best blocking grade of 93 percent as NCCU rolled up 416 yards of total offense and 45 points to beat Mississippi Valley State.
Olivo (K, 5-110, 195, Sr., Plant City, Fla.) accounted for nine points, with a career-long 47-yard field goal and six extra-point kicks against Mississippi Valley State.

Baron Franks II (Norfolk State) led an offensive line that amassed 350 total rushing yards and 443 yards of total offense.
Kevon King (Norfolk State) rushed for 99 yards on 11 attempts (8.8 ypr) in the Spartan’s victory over Towson.
Kendrick DuJour (North Carolina Central) recorded six total tackles, 3.5 were stops for a loss with 2.0 sacks, while breaking up three passes in a victory over Mississippi Valley State.
Corey Fields, Jr. (South Carolina State) completed 19 of 25 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns to help South Carolina State snap a four-game losing streak with a win over The Citadel.
Cam Johnson (South Carolina State) graded out at 95 percent of his assignments and recorded four pancake blocks as he aided the Bulldogs to 556 yards of total offense against The Citadel.
