Rahshad Swinton, a 6-foot-5, 315-pound two-way lineman from Hickory High School, has committed to play Division I football at Campbell University.
Swinton announced his commitment Sunday on social media, calling himself “superbly blessed” to join the Camels. Campbell was the first Division I program to offer Swinton back in February, and he later attended the Camels’ spring game in March. He also visited Appalachian State for a junior day event.
Swinton has played varsity football since his freshman year, developing into a key piece on both sides of the ball for one of North Carolina’s top 3A programs. A starter on Hickory’s undefeated 2023 state championship team, Swinton helped the Red Tornadoes go 14-1 in 2024, falling in the state semifinals to West Charlotte.
On defense, Swinton logged 69 tackles in 2023 as a nose guard. Offensively, he anchored the left side of a line that helped Hickory average 49.7 points and 426.7 yards per game last fall. He’s listed as both a tackle and nose guard.
🏈 More on Hickory’s Pipeline
Swinton becomes the second Hickory junior to pledge to a Division I program this spring, joining safety Dorrian Medley, who committed to Appalachian State. The Class of 2025 at Hickory also produced three D1 signees:
- QB Brady Stober (Samford)
- WR Jamien Little (Duke)
- WR Ellis Chappell (Western Carolina)
