North Carolina College Football Week 9 Schedule: Full List of Games, Time & TV Info (Oct. 24-25)

NC college football schedule features 23 games, six in-state match-ups this week

Frankly, Week 8 of the North Carolina college football season was rough. Twenty-six teams from the Old North State took the field. Only nine came away with victories. Ouch.

East Carolina was the lone winner among our FBS contingent, taking down Tulsa on Thursday night. Western Carolina captured the only FCS win in our state, riding the arm of Taron Dickens to a high-scoring win at The Citadel. Among Division III schools, only North Carolina Wesleyan came out on top, edging Huntingdon by a point when the Hawks missed a fourth-quarter PAT.

Division II was the only place we had multiple winners. Johnson C. Smith and Winston-Salem State rolled in CIAA action. Barton clipped Chowan behind 200-yard back Jackson Parrish. Our college team of the week, Wingate, and Lenoir-Rhyne battled past South Atlantic foes.

Collectively speaking, Week 9 has to be better, right? Here are highlights of what’s on tap this weekend. Positive vibes only:

  • 23 games total on deck featuring North Carolina teams, with six in-state match-ups
  • Another Friday night game, with reeling Charlotte (1-6) hosting North Texas on ESPN2.
  • A renewal of the “South’s Oldest Rivalry” when Virginia visits North Carolina on Saturday at 12 p.m. – a matchup that has been happening since 1892.
  • The third meeting between Campbell and North Carolina A&T since the pair joined the CAA together in 2023. The Camels won the first two meetings.
  • The beginning of MEAC play for North Carolina Central, which hosts DeSean Jackson and Delaware State. 
  • Multiple D2 rivalry games like Fayetteville State at Shaw, Winston-Salem State at Johnson C. Smith and Lenoir-Rhyne at Mars Hill. UNC Pembroke also plays its first in-state opponent in the new Conference Carolinas (Chowan).
  • Doubleheaders in Greensboro (Campbell-A&T and Brevard-Greensboro College), Durham (Delaware State-NCCU and Fayetteville State-Shaw) and Salisbury (Virginia-Lynchburg at Livingstone and Tusculum at Catawba). 
  • Wake Forest hosting 2024 ACC runner-up SMU on The CW.
