Winston-Salem State will begin the season playing in a unique HBCU showcase game, the Red Tails Classic in Montgomery, AL on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. The contest against Tuskegee will give WSSU national exposure on an ESPN platform. Read more about the much anticipated matchup here.

When is Winston-Salem State’s homecoming 2025
The WSSU Rams will entertain Livingstone for Homecoming on Oct. 18, 2025 at Bowman Gray Stadium. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. It is the last home contest of the regular season for the Rams and also will serve as Senior Day and a “Red Out” day.
Who is the head coach of the Winston-Salem State football team?
Robert Massey has directed the Winston-Salem State football program since being appointed head coach on Dec. 17, 2021. Massey has been well-traveled in the CIAA, serving as the interim coach at WSSU before assuming full-time duties, as well as coaching at Livingstone and Shaw.
What is the name of Winston-Salem State’s football stadium?
The Rams play in the largest D2 football venue in North Carolina, the 17,000-seat Bowman Gray Stadium. Winston-Salem State has won 12 CIAA championships since the stadium opened in 1938, including a nice run from 2011-16 (four titles).
