The opening slate includes two in-state matchups: Wingate visits UNC Pembroke on Thursday, while Shaw travels to Fayetteville State on Saturday. Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Virginia Union on Friday, while defending CIAA champion Johnson C. Smith opens Saturday at Benedict. Mars Hill is the state’s only D2 team off during Week 0.
