Key Storylines for Elon Football in 2026

Quarterback transition after Landen Clark
Elon must replace record-setting quarterback Landen Clark, who transferred to LSU after a dynamic all-conference season. The Phoenix have several strong candidates in the search for a new leader to guide the offense.

Can the Phoenix contend in the CAA?
Elon has finished .500 or better every year since the spring COVID season in 2021. But the Phoenix haven’t been to the playoffs since 2022. With upper echelon teams William & Mary and Villanova leaving the league, the door could be open for Elon to end its playoff drought.

Reloading on defense
Head coach Tony Trisciani lost multiple defenders to FBS programs in the portal, including edge rusher Kahmari Brown (Iowa) and defensive back Brycen Scott (Louisville). The Phoenix will need new playmakers to emerge on that side of the ball in 2026. Elon has reloaded before and will need to again.
