Duke football is back in the Top 25. The Blue Devils jumped into the national rankings for the first time since 2023, landing at No. 21 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, released Sunday night.
The Blue Devils improved to 4-0 on Saturday, cruising past William & Mary 62-7. Duke has an eight-game win streak dating back to last November, which includes the 2025 ACC title game and a Sun Bowl victory.
Coach Manny Diaz’s team barely missed out on a Top 25 ranking from the Associated Press. The Blue Devils finished as the second team out in the voting, just one vote shy of No. 26 Wisconsin.
Duke, which has an open date this week, is flirting with all-time history. The Blue Devils’ last eight-game win streak came during the 2013 season under coach David Cutcliffe.
The last nine-game win streak came in 1941 when Duke went 9-0, won the Southern Conference championship, and outscored opponents by a total of 311-41. No Duke team has won more than nine games in a row. Georgia Tech and UNC await after the bye week.
Nationally, only three teams have more consecutive wins than Duke right now – Indiana (20), Notre Dame (14) and Utah (10).
Wake Forest, which upset No. 16/19 Louisville on Saturday, also is getting on the national radar. The Demon Deacons (3-1) received votes in both the coaches poll and AP poll this week. Wake was the fourth team out of the coaches poll (29th in the voting), while knocking Louisville out of the rankings.
