Kings Mountain defensive standout Elihu Lipscomb commits to Davidson

All-conference performer made 18 tackles-for-loss in 2023

Kings Mountain's Elihu Lipscomb announced on social media over the weekend that he has committed to Davidson.

An all-conference defensive standout from Kings Mountain has committed to play football for Davidson College in 2025.

Edge rusher/outside linebacker Elihu Lipscomb announced his pledge for the Wildcats on social media Aug. 2. Lipscomb (6-2, 215 pounds) boasts a 3.9 GPA and an impressive football resume to boot. He also has qualified for the 3A state wrestling championships twice.

Lipscomb finished his junior football season with 86 total tackles, including 18 tackles-for-loss. He had 6.5 sacks and four fumble recoveries. He returned two fumbles for touchdowns — including a 44-yard scoop-and-score against North Gaston — and brought an interception back 20 yards for a TD.

Lipscomb joined three other defensive teammates on the first-team Big South 3A all-conference team after the 2023 season. Kings Mountain finished 10-2, 6-1 in the Big South.

Lipscomb finished second in the 3A West region in wrestling this season, earning a spot in the state field for the second time.

He camped at Davidson in July and received his offer from the Wildcats then. He received a defensive line MVP award at another July camp and clocked a 4.59 40-yard dash at a Western Carolina camp in June, per his social media.

Lipscomb also reported offers from Norfolk State, UNC Pembroke and Hampden-Sydney.

Kings Mountain will open the ’24 season Friday, Aug. 23 at Shelby. The home opener for the Mountaineers comes the next week against Cox Mill.
