Campbell football has taken the small-college world by storm this fall, winning their first seven FCS games and climbing into the Top 15 of the national rankings for the first time in school history.
Picked eighth in the CAA preseason poll, the Camels (7-2, 4-1 CAA) won their first four league games before suffering a 45-35 setback at Albany last Saturday. Campbell gave up two defensive touchdowns, dug an early 21-7 hole and never could dig all the way out.
While the defeat has knocked coach Braxton Harris’ team (7-2, 4-1 CAA) off the front-runner’s pace in the CAA, there is still a lot to play for in Buies Creek this November. Both a conference championship and FCS playoff berth remain within reach.
But Campbell must navigate the toughest stretch of the season. After facing Stony Brook (5-4, 3-2), the Camels travel to in-state rival Elon before returning home to face unbeaten CAA leader Monmouth in their regular-season finale.
This Saturday’s matchup features two prolific quarterbacks, offenses averaging more than 32 points per game and a Stony Brook defense led by one of the nation’s most disruptive pass-rushing tandems. Here is everything to know about Stony Brook at Campbell, including TV/streaming information, stat comparisons and storylines.

What to Know about Stony Brook vs. Campbell Football
Campbell forging historic football season
Despite last week’s loss at Albany, Campbell football has been in uncharted territory this season. The Camels have won seven games and reached the national Top 25 for the first time in program history, climbing as high as No. 12 in the Stats Perform FCS rankings.
The Camels entered this week ranked No. 16 by Stats Perform and No. 19 in the AFCA Coaches Poll. The 45-35 defeat at Albany dropped Campbell four spots but the team remains in the rankings for the sixth week in a row.
The game features two elite quarterbacks
Campbell’s Kamden Sixkiller and Stony Brook’s Quinn Boyd have combined for 5,002 passing yards and 37 touchdown passes. Sixkiller has thrown for 2,620 yards and 20 touchdowns, while Boyd has 2,382 yards and 17 scores. Both quarterbacks are completing better than 66 percent of their attempts.
Sixkiller has spread the wealth around. Nine Campbell players have recorded at least 100 receiving yards this season, led by Jyron Waiters with 532 yards and five touchdowns. Stony Brook’s Seth Sweitzer has been the Seawolves’ primary target, catching 66 passes for 778 yards and seven touchdowns.
Stony Brook sack masters are a handful
Stony Brook’s Khalid Bueno and Lance Byndon have combined for 21 sacks and 35.5 tackles for loss through nine games. Bueno leads the way with 13 sacks and 20.5 TFLs. Campbell has allowed only 13 sacks all season, setting up a fascinating matchup between the Seawolves’ pass rush and the Camels’ offensive line.
Red zone contrast
Stony Brook has been money when it gets close to the end zone. The Sea Wolves have scored touchdowns on 28 of its 34 red-zone possessions, an 82.4% success rate. Campbell has reached the end zone on 23 of 37 opportunities (62.2%). The Seawolves also have a perfect 8-for-8 record on field-goal attempts (Michael Mannino), compared with Campbell’s 4-for-9 mark.
Bring in the ground troops
Campbell’s JJ Cowan has rushed for 601 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 6.3 yards per carry. Stony Brook’s CJ Hester has 672 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, plus 234 receiving yards and another score. The Seawolves have allowed 176.9 rushing yards per game, compared with Campbell’s 116.3.
While the quarterbacks will take center stage, how well either team can establish and stop the run could be paramount to the outcome.
