Both quarterbacks coming off strong openers
Elon’s Brady Stober and Davidson’s Casey Bullock had solid season openers last weekend. Stober threw for 260 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for a score in Elon’s 42-7 win over Glenville State. Bullock threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns, while also running for a TD in the second half, in a 41-35 loss to Concord.
This series has more than 100 years of (lopsided) history
Davidson and Elon first met in 1921 and played regularly through the early years of the series. The Wildcats dominated from the start, shutting out Elon in each of the first eight meetings. Elon finally got on the scoreboard in a 20-6 loss in 1929.
Elon’s first win came in 1954, and the teams did not face each other again until renewing the series in 2009. The Phoenix have had the upper hand in the three meetings since, winning 56-0 (2009), 26-23 (2021) and 55-7 (2025).
