The Gate City Soup Bowl will once again launch Greensboro College’s football schedule.

The annual showdown between the Pride and crosstown rival Guilford College will be played on Saturday, Sept. 7. Greensboro will host this year’s contest, which is tentatively scheduled to kick off at noon. The game also serves as a popular fund-raiser and canned food drive for Greensboro charities.

This will be the 24th edition of the Soup Bowl. Greensboro will try to win back the bowl game’s unique trophy after falling to Guilford 36-21 in a back-and-forth game a year ago.

Averett University will visit Greensboro in week two of the season, Sept. 14. The Pride will then jump into USA South Conference play the following weekend, travelling to Methodist.

Greensboro will play eight USA South games in all, hosting Southern Virginia, Belhaven, North Carolina Wesleyan and Maryville. The road conference schedule also will include trips to Brevard, LaGrange and Huntingdon.

Greensboro finished the 2023 season on a strong note, beating Southern Virginia 47-7 and Methodist 27-21.
