If you’re following college football across North Carolina this Saturday, there won’t be much time to ease into the day. The schedule for Week 6 (Oct. 10) is front-loaded with 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. games. Only a handful of contests will be played under the lights.

Four games kick off at noon, including the week’s marquee in-state matchup as Wake Forest visits NC State in Raleigh. Both teams enter this week with plenty at stake as the ACC season begins to take shape.

North Carolina gets another opportunity to make some noise against an unbeaten opponent, visiting Pittsburgh. The Tar Heels made No. 3 Notre Dame work for a 37-26 win Saturday in Chapel Hill.

The schedule stays busy throughout the afternoon. East Carolina begins American Conference play at home against Rice, Appalachian State opens its Sun Belt schedule against Old Dominion and Duke visits Georgia Tech.

In our small-college circuit, Elon celebrates homecoming against Wofford, while Johnson C. Smith hosts Shaw in an intriguing CIAA matchup. Mars Hill carries the state’s only unbeaten Division II record to Emory & Henry after surviving a four-overtime thriller last weekend.

In all, 27 games involving North Carolina programs are scheduled for Saturday, with Louisburg College adding a 28th game to the statewide slate Sunday afternoon.
