Lenoir-Rhyne, the reigning South Atlantic Conference football champions, recently picked up a pair of Class of 2025 commitments from the Charlotte area.
Cornerback/nickel Noah Collins (Chambers HS) pledged for the Bears on Thursday, while fellow defensive back Karmel “Boogie” Quick (Cornelius | Hough HS) gave Lenoir-Rhyne a verbal commitment in mid-July.
Collins (5-9, 165) finished his junior season with 23 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, four pass break-ups, a forced fumble and a sack.
His work ethic caught the eye of Prep Redzone recruiting writer Matt Morrow this past spring. Morrow listed Collins as a Charlotte Metro area defensive player on the rise: “Noah wants to be successful as badly as anyone I’ve covered over the last couple of years,” he wrote.
Collins also reported offers from Johnson C. Smith, Charleston (WV) and Minnesota West. He earned the Most Improved Award from a Johnson C. Smith camp earlier this summer.
Quick (5-8, 165) collected honorable mention all-conference this past season in the Queen City 3A/4A, helping Hough win the league and finish 11-2 overall.
Per MaxPreps, Quick picked off two passes and recorded 41 tackles as a junior. He had six tackles-for-loss. He has a GPA of 3.2 and has clocked a 4.5 in the 40.
While Collins and Quick look to be teammates at Lenoir-Rhyne in 2025, they will play on opposite sides of the field Sept. 27. That’s the Friday night when Hough will visit Chambers. Hough edged Chambers 19-13 a year ago.
Both Chambers and Hough will open the season on Friday, Aug. 23 against South Carolina opponents. Chambers visits Clover, while Hough travels to Northwestern.
