NC State erupted in the fourth quarter to beat scrappy Western Carolina 38-21. Wake Forest put up the biggest numbers on the scoreboard in a 45-13 triumph over North Carolina A&T.

Gardner-Webb lost a nailbiter in Cris Reisert’s debut as the Bulldogs’s head coach. Mars Hill, meanwhile, took it on the chin against No. 14 Delta State in D2 action.
