Recruiting Snapshot
June 22 Update – Charlotte continues building offense
Charlotte added two commitments during the June 18-21 official visit weekend, bringing the 49ers’ 2027 class to 11 total pledges. Offensive lineman Brayden Washington of Tennessee gives Charlotte another addition in the trenches after reporting offers from Oregon, Memphis, UCF and several other FBS programs.
Wide receiver Kadin Vassel of South Carolina adds speed to the offensive side of the ball and chose the 49ers over offers from Georgia Tech, East Carolina and Marshall, among other. Charlotte’s class now ranks No. 123 nationally according to 247Sports.
June 12 Update – 49ers get their 2027 class rolling
- Class ranking: Charlotte entered mid-June ranked No. 129 nationally by 247Sports.
- Fast start: Charlotte has landed seven commitments since May 31 after opening the cycle without a pledge through most of the spring.
- Regional recruiting: The 49ers’ first seven commitments come from five states, with North Carolina and Georgia accounting for four of the seven pledges.
- Building around production: Charlotte’s early commits include a 1,300-yard rusher (Calvin Wofford), a 31-touchdown passer (Ryan Harrigan) and multiple defenders with double-digit tackles-for-loss.
- Quarterback secured: Ryan Harrigan gives Charlotte an early signal-caller after throwing 31 touchdown passes against just one interception during his junior season.
- Homegrown talent: Charlotte has secured commitments from two North Carolina prospects so far in athlete Nicholas Rankin and linebacker Tyler Goebbel.
- Versatility matters: Rankin, Charlotte’s first known 2027 commitment, contributed as a receiver, defensive back and return specialist while scoring eight touchdowns and recording three interceptions in 2025.
- Official visits paying off: All seven known commitments announced their decisions after the start of the June official-visit period.
