Davidson’s 2026 season got off to a surprising start Thursday night as Division II Concord knocked off the Wildcats 41-35 at Davidson College Stadium.

The teams traded scores throughout a wild first half and went to the locker room tied 28-28 before Concord took control. Stanley Horn Jr. returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter, and the Mountain Lions eventually built a 41-28 advantage.

Davidson quarterback Casey Bullock nearly brought the Wildcats back in his first career start. Bullock scored on a 17-yard run with seven minutes remaining to cut the deficit to six, and Davidson got the ball back with 5:08 remaining. The Wildcats converted twice on fourth down before the potential game-winning drive ended on an incompletion on fourth-and-4 from the Concord 22.
