FINAL: Concord 41, Davidson 35
Davidson’s 2026 season got off to a surprising start Thursday night as Division II Concord knocked off the Wildcats 41-35 at Davidson College Stadium.
The teams traded scores throughout a wild first half and went to the locker room tied 28-28 before Concord took control. Stanley Horn Jr. returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter, and the Mountain Lions eventually built a 41-28 advantage.
Davidson quarterback Casey Bullock nearly brought the Wildcats back in his first career start. Bullock scored on a 17-yard run with seven minutes remaining to cut the deficit to six, and Davidson got the ball back with 5:08 remaining. The Wildcats converted twice on fourth down before the potential game-winning drive ended on an incompletion on fourth-and-4 from the Concord 22.

- Bullock finished 29-of-54 for 241 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He also led Davidson with 81 rushing yards and scored a fourth-quarter touchdown.
- Jacary Lightsey caught 10 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown.
- Davidson’s first score came on special teams when Jordan Mays blocked a punt and Hudson Altenburg recovered it in the end zone.
- Concord’s Dom Collins produced two of the game’s biggest plays, scoring on a 53-yard reception and a 68-yard reverse.
- Concord outgained Davidson 467-343, including a 242-100 advantage on the ground.
- Davidson controlled the ball for more than 36 minutes and recorded 26 first downs but surrendered several explosive plays.
- The loss came against a Concord program that competes at the Division II level in the Mountain East Conference.
- Davidson returns home Saturday, Sept. 5, against Elon.
