Charlotte football plucked another 2026 prospect out of Georgia this week, landing three-star cornerback Chase Usher from Sandy Creek High in Tyrone.

The rising senior logged six pass breakups, 20 tackles and a fumble recovery in 2024. Sandy Creek finished 10-2 overall, winning its region with a 7-1 mark.

Usher is the 10th player to commit to Charlotte’s 2026 class — and the fifth defensive back. Head coach Tim Albin and his staff continue to load up in the secondary, with Georgia prospects playing a key role. Usher joins fellow defensive backs Maddox West (Campbell HS) and Alchino Blakely (South Gwinnett HS) as part of the 49ers’ Peach State pipeline.

Usher has reported a mix of FBS and FCS offers, per his social media and 247Sports, including Appalachian State. His stock could be rising during summer camp season.

Known as “The Technician” by his high school program, Usher plays with precision, showing strong footwork and discipline in coverage — traits that have helped him earn two All-Region honors and now, a future home at Charlotte.

“Usher moved well at practice and I’ve noticed an improvement in his footwork from when I last watched his film,” Georgia-based recruiting analyst Najeh Wilkins posted on X in early May. “Usher is beginning to see the offers start rolling in.”
