The Georgia-to-Charlotte pipeline is real. Michael “Mikey” Domanik, a hard-hitting linebacker from Marietta’s Kell High, announced his commitment to Charlotte 49ers football on June 2.

He becomes the fourth prospect from the Peach State to join Charlotte’s 2026 recruiting class – and the second defensive player to commit within a 24-hour stretch.

Domanik is a three-star prospect who has been a mainstay on the varsity roster since his freshman season. Over his high school career, he has recorded 153 total tackles, including 77 as a junior in 2024. He also boasts 13 tackles for loss, one sack, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.

“[Domanik] strikes anything that moves,” Kell associate head coach Chaz Ferdinand posted on X. “TONE SETTER on our defense. Can run with RBs & TEs in the pass game. EXTREMELY underrated ball player.”

Domanik joins fellow Georgia defender Chase Usher (Tyrone | Sandy Creek HS), who committed June 1. The 49ers also added Maddox West (Smyrna | Campbell HS) and Alchino Blakely (Snellville | South Gwinnett HS) earlier this spring.

As of June 4, Charlotte’s 2026 recruiting class features 11 known commitments, with seven of them on the defensive side of the ball. Head coach Tim Albin, entering his first year with the program after leading Ohio to a MAC title in 2024, is clearly emphasizing toughness and regional recruiting ties in the early stages of the 49ers’ rebuild.
