As official visit season winds down for FBS schools, Charlotte football added three more 2026 commitments, capping a strong late-weekend recruiting run with an intriguing mix of multi-sport athletes.

Coach Tim Albin and the 49ers landed:

  • A prolific, do-it-all Virginia state offensive player of the year
  • A basketball-football two-sport state champion from Arkansas
  • A fast-rising linebacker from South Carolina with only two D1 offers

Here’s a closer look at the newest additions to Charlotte’s 2026 class:

Brody Dawyot | QB/ATH | Salem, VA | Glenvar HS | 6-5, 220

Dawyot is one of the most decorated athletes in Virginia’s Class 2 ranks — and one of the most versatile. Officially listed as an athlete by Rivals (and on Dawyot’s own X profile), the 6-5 signal caller has passed for 7,012 yards and 95 touchdowns during his high school career while also rushing for 1,646 yards and 24 scores. He has been a varsity starter since his freshman season.

He accounted for 61 total touchdowns in 2024 alone and was named VHSL Class 2 State Offensive Player of the Year, 1st team All-State QB and punter, and earned multiple regional and district honors at quarterback, punter, defensive end and utility player.

Charlotte and UConn were his only FBS offers, though he also drew interest and offers from Richmond, Stony Brook, Maine, Bryant and Norfolk State from the FCS ranks. A multi-sport athlete, Dawyot was also named 2nd Team All-State in basketball and has already scored more than 1,000 career points on the hardwood.

It will be intriguing to see how Charlotte employs this versatile addition to its recruiting clas. The 49ers already have a pledge from 2026 quarterback Jaylen White from Clearwater High in Florida.

Caleb Tucker | WR | Bryant, AR | Bryant HS | 6-0, 185

Tucker helped lead Bryant High School to a 7A state title in both football and basketball during the 2024-25 school year. On the football field, he caught 20 passes for 453 yards and 10 touchdowns, including a standout 74-yard, 1-TD performance in the state championship game.

He was named FOX16’s “Play of the Year” winner for a highlight-reel end zone grab. Tucker holds offers from Arkansas State in his backyard as well as Purdue and Miami (OH).

He is the second receiver from Bryant to commit to a North Carolina program this month, joining Kamauri Austin, who pledged to Appalachian State earlier in June.

Gray Patterson | OLB | Fort Mill, SC | Fort Mill HS | 6-3, 210

Patterson may be one of the more underrated commits in the region. Despite impressive measurables — a 4.53 40-yard dash and 4.1 GPA — Charlotte is his first and only FBS offer at this point. Ivy League program Dartmouth also offered.

Over the past two seasons, Patterson compiled 68 tackles, 5 tackles-for-loss, 3 interceptions and 1 sack across 16 games. He shined at Charlotte’s mid-June 7-on-7 camp and committed after receiving his offer on June 18.

Per Prep RedZone SC:

“Patterson is an attacking, downhill linebacker… He keeps his eye in the right place and can react quickly when the ball is in the air… not afraid to put his hand in the dirt and make plays in short-yardage situations.”

🟢 Recruiting Recap

These three additions give Charlotte a strong surge as the 49ers prepare for the start of the FBS dead period. All three players bring multi-sport athleticism, positional versatility and breakout potential.

Albin and the 49ers now have 14 commitments as part of the 2026 class. To see the complete list of Charlotte 2026 commits, plus see who has pledged to other North Carolina college programs, view our NC College Commitment Tracker.
