Louisburg College football is once again on the national radar. The Hurricanes will begin the 2025 season ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA Division III preseason poll, matching where they ended last fall after advancing to the national championship game.
Louisburg is North Carolina’s lone junior college football program, tucked away in Franklin County about 45 minutes northeast of Raleigh. Despite being on an island in terms of JUCO game competition, the Hurricanes have built a consistent pipeline of talent — sending dozens of players to four-year schools across all NCAA divisions and even into the NFL. Most notably, former Hurricane Shavon Revel Jr. was selected in the third round of this year’s NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Revel last played at ECU.
Head coach Quinderra Spellman’s squad tuned up for the season with a stellar home scrimmage against Division III Methodist College this past weekend. The regular season officially kicks off on Aug. 30 against Central Georgia Technical College, an NJCAA Division I powerhouse.
Louisburg finished 8-3 a year ago, reaching the national title game before falling to College of DuPage (Ill.) 31-14.

The Hurricanes will host just two true home games in 2025 — Sept. 13 vs. Hudson Valley Community College (Youth Day) and Oct. 25 vs. Myrtle Beach Collegiate (Homecoming) — both at Louisburg High School. Neutral-site contests in South Carolina and Virginia help round out the 10-game slate.
