NC High School Football Playoffs: State championship match-ups set

NC State and UNC will host four state title games next weekend

The NCHSAA football playoffs have reached round two, with a number of perfect teams still in the mix for 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A championships

Four top seeds, three No. 2 seeds and one No. 3 seed advanced to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state football championships with regional final wins on Friday.

Here are final scores from the East and West Regional championship games played across the state on Dec. 1:

  • 4A West: Weddington 34, Independence 14
  • 4A East: Hoggard 41, Cardinal Gibbons 20
  • 3A West: Hickory 42, Dudley 41
  • 3A East: Seventy-First 50, Northern Nash 36
  • 2A West: Reidsville 49, Shelby 14
  • 2A East: Clinton 36, Northeastern 22
  • 1A West: Mount Airy 27, Robbinsville 16
  • 1A East: Tarboro 49, West Columbus 12

Here are the match-ups for next weekend’s high school football finales:

3A State Championship | Friday, Dec. 8 | 7 p.m.

Tickets for the games will cost $15. The games will be live streamed and carried on various television channels.
