Winston-Salem State, Fayetteville State and Johnson C. Smith will be featured as part of HBCU GO’s live coverage of CIAA football this season.

The league announced that five regular-season games, plus the conference championship contest, will be broadcast on HBCU GO, a free streaming service that covers sports across the more than 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the country.

Here is the planned HBCU GO lineup:

Sept. 21: Winston-Salem State at Virginia State (1 p.m.)

Oct. 5: Bowie State at Fayetteville State (1 p.m.)

Oct. 19: Bluefield State at Bowie State (1 p.m.)

Oct. 26: Johnson C. Smith at Winston-Salem State (1 p.m.)

Nov. 9: Virginia Union at Virginia State (1 p.m.)

Nov. 16: CIAA championship game, Salem, Va. (3 p.m.)

As in past seasons, the CIAA also will broadcast other league games on its own CIAA Sports Network.

CIAA Media Day Coming Wednesday

All 11 football-playing members of the conference will gather in Roanoke, Va., for the annual media day on Wednesday, July 17.

The preseason predicted order-of-finish and preseason all-conference teams will be announced. Coaches and player representatives from all the teams will be available for interviews. The event will be live-streamed on the CIAA Sports Network.

Virginia Union is the reigning CIAA champion. The Panthers beat Fayetteville State in last year’s title game. FSU has made the CIAA championship six years in a row, winning in 2022.

This year the league will not use divisions, so the top two teams in the standings will meet in the CIAA finale. In years past a North Carolina team was guaranteed a spot in the title game but this will not be the case this year.

One of the reasons the CIAA is getting away from divisional play is that St. Augustine’s has opted not to field a team this year due to ongoing financial and accreditation issues. That leaves the leave with an unbalanced 11-team setup.

Not every CIAA team has announced who will represent them at media day. Here is what we know about who is coming so far:

Elizabeth City State: Coach Marcus Hilliard, LB Tracey White (Sr.), QB Chase Williams (Jr.).

Shaw University: Coach Adrian Jones, DT Saevion Gibbs (R-Jr.), WR As’shaan Belcher (R-Jr.)

Winston-Salem State: Coach Robert Massey, DE Camar Kyle (Sr.), QB Daylin Lee (Soph.)
