Hugo Taylor’s Brevard football profile page lists him as a mathematics major. No matter how you add things up, Taylor was a North Carolina Football News Division III Stat Champion for the 2024 college football season.

Taylor, a senior from Charleston, S.C., led our state’s D3 ranks in kicker points and most extra points. He also had the best single-game performance from a Division III place-kicker.

Taylor finished his final collegiate season with 61 kicker points. He made seven field goals and booted 40 PATs for a Brevard team that averaged 36 points per game – most in the Old North State.

His highest-scoring contest came in week six against Southern Virginia when he went 2-for-2 on field goals and 7-for-7 on PATs for 13 points. Brevard won that game 55-21.

In his final contest against Kentucky Christian, Taylor compiled 11 points, again making a pair of field goals and all five of his point-after attempts.

Taylor has been Brevard’s primary place-kicker for the past two seasons, booting 19 total field goals and making 74 PATs. He also handled kickoff duties for the Tornados from 2021-24.

North Carolina Wesleyan’s Braxtyn Green has become a household name in NC D3 football the past two seasons. He has twice been named the USA South special teams player of the year.

Green, who also handles the Battling Bishops’ punting chores and was a D3 Stat Champion in those categories, finished with 54 points this season, second behind Taylor. He is our Stat Champion for total field goals made with 11 and also hit 21 extra points.

Green’s highest scoring output came against Brevard in a week 11 upset. Green made all three of his field goal attempts, including a 43-yarder, and went 3-for-3 on PATs.

Greensboro’s Thomas Chapman gets credit for the longest field goal of the season among D3 kickers. He hit a 46-yarder, his career high, in an October game against LaGrange.
