UNC Pembroke officials announced the game date and time adjustment of the Two Rivers Classic in response to weather related to Hurricane Idalia.

The Braves now will host Fayetteville State on Friday at 3 p.m. at Grace P. Johnson Stadium. The game had been set for Thursday night.

“For the safety of the fans and teams, a Friday afternoon kickoff will give the best chance for everyone to safely enjoy this rivalry,” said UNC Pembroke Director of Athletics Dick Christy. “We’ve been committed to get the game in but also avoid any Friday evening high school football matchups in our region.  I feel the 3 p.m. kick gives us an opportunity for the field to dry and still get folks off to night high school games or their Labor Day plans.”

The Black & Gold will begin the Mark Hall-era on Friday and look to reclaim the Two Rivers Classic trophy. The Braves are 14-2 all-time in home openers. UNC Pembroke leads the series against Fayetteville State 8-1, with the only loss coming last season, 15-13.
