A GoFundMe account has been created to help the family of a popular Davidson football coach who suffered serious injuries in a car wreck earlier this week.
Steven Jackson was involved in a crash in the early morning of March 13 and “has a long road of recovery ahead of him,” according to the GoFundMe account page devoted to Jackson (found HERE). As of Saturday afternoon, more than 830 donations have come in, totaling nearly $110,000. The goal is at least $150,000.
Jackson joined the Davidson staff in 2018. He was promoted to associate head coach in 2021. He also serves as special teams coordinator, defensive run-game coordinator and defensive ends coach.
“Steven is a huge part of the Davidson community,” organizers of the fund-raiser said on Jackson’s page. “Let’s rally around Coach and his family during this difficult time. He currently has a family of four with a third child on the way.”
Jackson earned All-America status as an offensive lineman at Shepherd University during his playing days. He coached at South Hagerstown High School from 2012-16 and coached the defensive line at Washington & Lee in 2017 before coming to Davidson.
The Wildcats have one of the top teams in the Pioneer Football League in recent years, with Jackson playing a strong role in helping guide the defense and special teams.
